Patient Safety is our priority

The Medical Transport Standards Group, a division of the PMSG, is a provincial wide initiative to make the non-urgent patient transfer industry safer. While land ambulance is regulated by the Ministry of Health, the non-urgent patient transfer services are still largely unregulated. We are endeavouring to change the industry and ensuring that it is as safe as it possibly can be. To learn how we are doing that, please read more in our "About" section.

Who is a part of the MTSG?

From one perspective, hospitals and long-term care facilities are members of the MTSG. These services become members by paying a corporate annual membership fee. In return, they are notified immediately which patient transfer services are accredited by the MTSG, thereby knowing that those transfer services have subjected to the MTSG accreditation process which includes examination of all vehicles, equipment, and employees.

From the second perspective, patient transfer services are members of the MTSG. By becoming a part of the MTSG they pay an application fee, and undergo extensive examination of their equipment and vehicles, as well as provide proof that all employees have criminal record checks on files, drivers abstract, free of communicable disease, and are currently trained in CPR/First Aid.
